Because they think every human have the right to live a decent life... Note that socialism in France, is not the same as socialism in the US. Well, socialism in France, to sum up, say that every person living in a country, even if thiss persons cannot work, or is a part of the "weak" have the right to live, and to live decently. So, people must help her, and that help is made trhu the state.
